A wine kit obviously. You can also buy another type of kit. It will have all the hardware you would need to do a batch of wine. A good one is about $100. Now remember. These things are a onetime purchase. You can go another route however. Instead of buying the hardware kit. Just buy what you need individually. This way you have more control over your equipment and you will not be buying things you will not need. For instance when I started I bought a beer/wine kit. It came with a bottle capper that I will never use. Even a kit designed just for wine will have a hand corker. Believe me. You will want a floor corker when it comes time.
What you will need:
A Wine Kit.
A long wand. Looks a little like what you picture a witch stirring her brew with.
A thermometer. Preferably a cooking thermometer. The one I have is electronic and is fast and accurate.
That is about it to start. Later you will need bottles and corks. Oh, and a corker. You will want a floor corker.
This is what will come in most starter wine/beer kits. Which is not a bad way to go.
